Do UK citizens need a visa for Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh)?

Yes. UK passport holders need a visa for Egypt. For Sharm El Sheikh, a Sinai-Only Entry Stamp is available at the airport (free of charge) and permits stays within the South Sinai resort area only — it does not allow travel to Cairo or elsewhere in Egypt. For a full Egypt visa permitting the whole country, purchase on arrival (approximately USD 25) or obtain an e-Visa in advance. Check current requirements at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/egypt.

What is the best time to dive in Sharm El Sheikh?

The Red Sea at Sharm offers good diving conditions year-round — water temperature ranges from 21°C in winter to 28°C in summer, and visibility is consistently 15-30 metres. October to May is most comfortable for surface conditions (air temperature 22-28°C). June to August can be very hot (35-40°C) at the surface, though the water itself remains perfect. The Thistlegorm wreck and Ras Mohammed are best dived between September and November when current conditions are most favourable.
