Stand at the summit of the world's tallest building and watch Dubai unfold below you — a half-day experience that puts the entire emirate into breathtaking perspective from the 124th floor.

At 828 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest structure ever built by human hands, and the "At the Top" observation experience on its 124th floor is one of the most visited attractions anywhere in the world. For good reason. The view from that height is genuinely transformative: the clustered towers of Downtown Dubai shrink to a scale model; the Palm Jumeirah reveals its leaf-and-frond geometry with perfect clarity; the desert bleeds to the horizon in one direction while the Arabian Gulf stretches to the other. On a clear morning, you can see the Hajar Mountains of the Hatta exclave more than eighty kilometres away. The Burj Khalifa was completed in 2010 after five years of construction involving a workforce from over a hundred countries. The building holds multiple world records beyond its height — the tallest service elevator, the highest number of storeys, and the highest occupied floor in the world, among others. Architect Adrian Smith designed it to evoke the Hymenocallis flower and the spiralling geometry of desert patterns, a deliberate dialogue between the building and its landscape that becomes apparent when you see the floor plan from above. The journey to the top begins at the base of the tower in The Dubai Mall, accessible via a dedicated entrance inside the world's largest shopping centre. From there, a high-speed elevator — ascending at ten metres per second — carries visitors to the observation deck in approximately one minute. Your ears register the pressure change more than the motion. The elevator interior is fitted with time-lapse footage of Dubai's growth, a useful orientation before you step out to the real thing. The 124th-floor observation deck is a generous outdoor and indoor space with floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides, interactive telescopes, and signage that labels the landmarks spread below. Knowledgeable staff are present to answer questions and assist with photographs. The deck has become one of the most photographed locations in the world; sunrise and sunset visits are particularly atmospheric, with the slanted light turning the glass facade of neighbouring towers into columns of bronze and gold. For those who want to go higher still, the premium "At the Top — SKY" experience accesses the 148th floor's open-air terrace, which sits above the clouds on some mornings and offers the remarkable sensation of looking down on other buildings' rooftop air conditioning units. This can be arranged as an upgrade at the time of booking. The Dubai Fountain, just below, is the world's largest choreographed fountain system: jets reach eighteen storeys and performances set to music run every thirty minutes from 1 pm and every twenty minutes after 6 pm. Timing your Burj Khalifa visit to coincide with an evening fountain show creates a two-part experience — observation deck followed by fountain-side viewing — that makes for one of Dubai's most complete evenings out. This experience is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The entire visit, including travel time from most Dubai hotels, takes three to four hours comfortably. Travel Orbit can arrange admission with hotel transfers as part of your Dubai holiday package — contact our team to add it to your itinerary.
Advance booking is strongly recommended — "At the Top" frequently sells out days ahead, particularly at sunset (approximately 6–7 pm in winter, 7–8 pm in summer). Photography with personal cameras is permitted throughout. Visitors with a fear of heights should note that the outdoor terrace railing is solid glass; there is no open-air edge. The experience is wheelchair accessible. Smart casual dress is sufficient — there is no formal dress code for the observation deck.
